Parking Lot Stencils & More

There are a few scenarios when you might need stencils for painting surfaces and walls:

  • Your site is under construction – You can use stencils to paint temporary lines, arrows, and numbers to direct vehicles and workers on-site.
  • Your parking lot was just resurfaced – If your lot or garage has a fresh layer of asphalt or sealcoat, you’ll need to repaint the lines and symbols you had before.
  • Your stencils are worn out – You can also use stencils to refresh existing paint.

No matter your application, the groundUP stores has all of the vinyl stencils you’ll need. Since we manufacture our stencils in-house, we can even assist with your custom stencil needs. Please contact us and let us know how we can help.

Free Shipping & Bulk Discounts

The groundUP stores offers free shipping on all stencils — and numerous other site supply products in our inventory.

We offer various thicknesses of vinyl material with prices to match every budget. If you’re only using them occasionally, or for indoor or vertical applications, then thinner stencils may be best for you. Professionals will want to purchase thicker stencils, which will hold up better with regular use and cleaning. You can even mix and match items to reduce your unit price and save big on stenciling supplies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which stencils do I need for a parking lot?

If you’re preparing to paint a parking lot, you’ll need some basic stencils:

  • Striping stencils – These stencils will help you create lane and parking space lines around your lot.
  • Numbers – If you choose to number your spaces, you’ll need some numbered stencils to bring your vision to life.
  • Common Symbols – Handicap symbols are necessities in most parking lots. Other symbols such as Pedestrian Crossing and Children at Play help motorists realize they need to slow down when driving through the lot.
  • Basic phrases – Stencils with phrases like “No Parking,” “Fire Lane,” and “Reserved” will help you maintain an orderly lot and direct visitors to the correct spaces.

Stencils are a good supplement to signage. It helps to reinforce your message to the people who drive on your site.

What’s the easiest way to use vinyl stencils?

If you’ve never used stencils for surface or wall painting, here are some tips from the pros:

  • Store your stencils flat – Sometimes stencils will ship rolled-up. You should remove these from the box and allow them to flatten out. Try not to bend or fold your stencils as this makes it more difficult to get a good end result.
  • Partner up – An extra set of hands can be incredibly helpful if you’re painting a large area like a parking lot or garage. While you lay stencils and paint, your partner could prepare the next stencils or carry your supplies as you walk around your site.
  • Cleaning hack – Lightly spray your stencils with cooking spray prior to use. This will help the stencils to shed the dried paint easier once you complete your project. Never use harsh chemicals to clean your stencils as they can damage the vinyl.
  • Don’t over apply – If you over apply paint, it could run underneath your stencil — your letters, numbers, and symbols could all run together. Instead, apply a light layer and use two coats if you must.
